This self-paced, state-approved online course provides all the education required to become a commissioned Ohio Notary Public. Designed for clarity and convenience, it covers Ohio notary laws, duties, best practices, and the steps necessary to successfully complete your notary commission application. Each lesson is approximately 30 minutes long, allowing you to learn at your own pace. Upon completion, you’ll take the Ohio Notary Public Exam, which requires a passing score of 80% or higher. There is no time limit on the exam, but it must be finished within 24 hours of starting. If you do not pass on your first attempt, state law requires a 30-day waiting period before you can retake the exam. The retake will automatically become available once that timeframe has passed. After passing, you’ll receive your certificate of completion, which must be uploaded twice when applying with the Ohio Secretary of State — once as proof of training and again as proof of passing.
